What is the difference between behaviour and character

The basic distinction is that characteristics are built-in and cannot be changed, and that behaviors are essentially a series of choices and can be changed. Traditional or subsistence societies operated under the assumption that little or nothing could be changed by force of will. The course of events were pre-ordained or attributed to fate. In fact, daring to try to change the course of events or the social contract could be construed as heresy and reason to go to war.

This is by no means an obsolete idea; we see this in many forma globally today, regardless of the technical development level of the people involved.

This concept began to change with the beginning of the Italian Renaissance in the 15 th and 16 th centuries, and was greatly accelerated by the industrial revolution in the 18 th and 19 th centuries. The Renaissance spread to all parts of Western Europe, and was characterized, at least in part by the rise of humanism. Behaviour and Personality are two different characteristics that define a person. A person is judged by how he or she behaves and what traits constitute a part of his or her personality.

That is to say, Behaviour stands for what a person does. Behaviour refers to the way a person acts or reacts to other persons and their surroundings in general. It is about how a person expresses himself or herself. Personality, on the other hand, refers to an amalgamation of qualities and characteristics that defines a person. It finds expression through how one feels, thinks and behaves. It refers to the way a person acts or reacts in a particular situation and to his surroundings in general.

That is to say, it changes as per the situations. For example, a person may act professional in an official meeting. On the other hand, he or she may act casual in a gathering with his or her friends and family. But a person cannot be judged merely by observing how he or she behaves as behaviour is all about how a person expresses himself or herself.

It is all on the outside. Like, a cheerful character, jolly-good-fellow character, introvert or extrovert character, quiet character, etc. See Active Vs. Meanwhile, behavior can be defined as the way one acts. It gives a complete picture of a person by looking at their actions or reactions.

The behavior can be changed for different purposes or persons. You can be more polite to your family than your friends, the way you speak to them politely or rudely , react to their demands, requests, etc.

Ironically, research has shown that character is the passing on of qualities from parents to children i. Their appearance, intelligence, etc. Some people deliberately behave in a way so that people think that is their character when it is actually not. So just keep this in mind that it might be possible that a person you are speaking to is very different on the inside than they may try to appear to be on the outside.
